LIVE provides North Carolina residents and students with
access to high quality information - searchable collections of
magazine, newspaper, and journal articles, electronic books,
historical materials, maps, and much more - covering a wide
range of topics. Individual databases are listed below.
North Carolina Libraries for
Virtual Education (NC LIVE) offers
the citizens of North Carolina online access to complete
articles from over 9,000 newspapers, journals, magazines,
and encyclopedias, indexing for over 20,000 periodical titles,
and access to over 22,000 electronic books.
NC LIVE is available free
of charge to library patrons, students,
and educators from four communities of interest (COIs) --
public libraries, community colleges, the state's university system,
and members of the North Carolina Association of Independent
Colleges and Universities.
NC
LIVE is generously supported by the General Assembly and the citizens
of North Carolina. Generous support for some of the independent college
and university libraries has been received from The Duke Endowment and
The Cannon Foundation.

American Women's Letters and Diaries will be the largest
collection of women's diaries and correspondence ever assembled.
The collection is scheduled
to include approximately 150,000 pages of published letters
and diaries from individuals writing from Colonial times to

Business Source Premier provides full text back to 1965 and searchable

Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200
digests along with references for additional information and citations

Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, is
the authoritative resource for nursing and allied health professionals,
students, educators and researchers. This database provides indexing
and abstracting for over 1,600 current nursing and allied health
journals and publications dating back to 1982, totaling over 800,000
records.

Ultra - School Edition--Designed
specifically for high school libraries, this database provides
full text for over 500 text pamphlets, 253 full text reference
books, 88,000 biographies, 83,500 primary source documents, and

text for nearly 1,950 general reference publications with full
text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually
every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also
includes 316 full text reference books, 88,000 biographies,
83,500 primary source documents, and an image collection of
107,000 photos, maps and flags.

& Government Collection--Designed to offer current
news pertaining to all branches of the military and government,
this database offers a thorough collection of periodicals, academic
journals, and other content pertinent to the increasing needs
of those sites. The Military & Government Collection provides
cover-to-cover full text for nearly 350 journals and periodicals
and indexing and abstracts for nearly 450 titles.

Business News--This database
provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business
publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of
75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan

- Clinical
Pharmacology--Clinical
Pharmacology provides access up-to-date, concise and clinically-relevant
drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find
herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products
and new and investigational drugs.
- Pre-CINAHL--A
companion database to CINAHL, Pre-CINAHL is intended to provide
current awareness of new journal articles, and includes a rotating
file of limited bibliographic information (no subject searching),
which are available to researchers only for the time when these
articles are being assigned additional indexing.
- PsycINFO--PsycINFO,
from the American Psychological Association (APA), contains more
than 2 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles,
book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and
related disciplines, dating as far back as the 1800s. 97 percent
of the covered material is peer-reviewed. Journal coverage, which
spans 1887 to present, includes international material selected
from nearly 2,000 periodicals in more than 25 languages.
- CINAHL
with Full Text-- CINAHL with Full Text provides indexing
for 2,737 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health.
The database contains more than 1,000,000 records dating back
to 1982. CINAHL with Full Text also contains searchable cited
references for more than 1,150 journals and provides full text
for 329 journals, plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical
paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials.
PDF backfiles to 1982 are also included.

Africa:
An Encyclopedia for Students--Based
on the scholarship in the acclaimed Encyclopedia of Africa, aimed
at college and graduate students, this work presents Africa, from
Egypt to Cape Town and from prehistoric times to the present day,
