North Carolina ECHO, Exploring Cultural Heritage Online, is the World Wide Web's doorway to the special collections of North Carolina's libraries, archives, museums, historic sites, and other cultural institutions.

With North Carolina ECHO, you can:

• Search an online directory of the cultural repositories of the state.
• Explore online resources created by those institutions.
• Discover the outstanding research opportunities and unique collections available in North Carolina.

Together the Land of the Sky partners, Appalachian State, the Guild, the Appalachian Cultural Museum and NC ECHO are building a digital repository of core information by and about the people of the mountains of North Carolina this resulted in Western North Carolina Heritage.

The NC Encyclopedia is designed to give you an overview of the people, the government, the history, and the resources of North Carolina. The information is organized into the broad information categories listed below. Most of these categories offer an opportunity to select either more specific or additional information on a particular topic.
