Friends of the Elkin Public Library and Volunteering

The Elkin Public Library accepts used book, audio, and video donations throughout the year at any time. Most items are put in the used book sales but may be added to the library's collection if deemed appropriate. Honor and memorial monetary gifts are accepted. The Library accepts larger monetary gifts.

The Elkin Public Library has a very active Friends group. The membership of 150 people raises $13,000.00 to support the library activities. The Friends annual book sale begin the last weekend in September and continues for two weeks. Other volunteer activities include delivering publicity posters, preparing food for program receptions, giving a program on a member's hobby, assisting with the children's Summer Reading Program, assisting in grounds upkeep, storytelling at area daycare centers for "Share-A-Book" and providing books for newborn babies at the local hospital. The Friends' board meets the third Tuesday of each month, September through May. Call the library for details.
